Jameela Hyland is a Program Initiative Manager at NYC Department of Health and Mental Hy-giene, where she oversees multiple public health initiatives that connect New Yorkers to health insurance enrollment services and health care access resources with a strong focus on health equity. She is a member of Trinidad and Tobago United Community Association (TATUCA) where she enjoys serving on the Scholarship Committee and providing insight and recommendations for var-ious fundraising events throughout the year. Her dreams are to work within a renowned global organization such as the Center of Disease Control or the United Nations where she can make an impact on people’s lives on a large public health scale, through health education and aware-ness. Furthermore, she would love to manage her very own non-profit that serves marginalized communities in the United States and Trinidad & Tobago. She says her journey to this point has not been easy, but with the strong support of her family and friends and financial assistance awarded by TATUCA during her academic journey, she was able to achieve many accomplish-ments. And, to this support base, she is sincerely thankful.

She is proud of her membership in TATUCA which has afforded her the wonderful opportunity to give back to the West Indian community in which she lives and serves.
